The Sovereign Bank Arena also known as the Mercer County Arena, is an 8000 to 10,000 seat arena in Trenton, New Jersey and home to the Trenton Titans. The arena hosts spectacular concert, sport and entertainment events year round including the 2000 - 2001 Northeast Conference men's and the 2003 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference men's basketball tournament. In 2009, the (MAAC) tournament is scheduled to be held at the Sovereign Bank Arena.
On October 6, 1999, The Sovereign Bank Arena, a $53 million multipurpose facility opened its doors to the public for the first time with the World Wrestling Federation event. Since its intial opening, more than 1200 events and 4,000,000 guests have attended 100's of spectacular and sold out events including:
Cher, Bruce Springsteen, Shania Twain, Keith Urban, Brad Paisley, Lord of the Dance, Luciano Pavarotti, Champions on Ice, WWE SmackDown, The Harlem Globetrotters, Target - Smucker's Stars On Ice, Creed, Elton John, 98 Degrees, matchbox twenty, Tool, Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Circus, and The 2004-2005 Kelly Cup Champion Trenton Titans ECHL Hockey Games.
The Arena seats approximately 8,100 for hockey or ice skating events, 9,000 for basketball, and up to 10,000 for concerts, and special entertainment and conventions. The arena has 1,150 private club seats, as well as 34 private luxury suites and is the largest arena in Southern New Jersey.
World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE), The Arena has often been a stop on the Boston Pops Holiday Tours with their last performance given December 17th, 2006, under conductor Keith Lockhart. Although Barbra Streisand did not play the Arena, she rehearsed there for four days prior to her opening in Philadelphia October 4th, 2006, at the Wachovia Center in Philadelphia, PA.
